May Spirit guide us . . .

“Thanks to Manifest I have a home, a place to practice & teach yoga, and a place to dance. I appreciate being part of a community where we respect one another’s space and nurture one another to grow.”

CORE YOGA (Manifest NE Studio)

Build core strength & flexibility in a fun, challenging class

CORE STRENGTH YOGA
Mondays weekly, 6:15-7:30 pm
Manifest Studio (nr. NE 22nd & Alberta St.)
• Drop In— $15/class
• 1st class is FREE if you bring a friend.

EVENT DESCRIPTION: This class is for beginners & experienced students who want a strong, fun workout using the ancient principles of core strength yoga.  As men age, stress, gravity, and neglect of the body conspire to cause us to collapse inward.  We close ourselves and our hearts off to life.  In this dynamic, powerful, and fun class you’ll learn to open from the inside out - to strengthen, lengthen, and enjoy your core.  This class is for men with diverse abilities, ages, shapes, colors, orientations, and backgrounds.

INSTRUCTOR: Charles Airey has studied yoga for about 25 years, became a certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor 20 years ago, and has taught in various studios in South Florida & Southern California.

WHAT STUDENTS SAY ABOUT THE CLASS:

“I’m not a gym bunny so I had it in my mind for a long time that yoga might be an interesting thing to try…I decided when the opportunity presented to give it a try…It was about a way of staying well that isn’t high impact like jogging…that kind of stuff. One that would help me stay flexible. My favorite part of the class is Charles’ teaching philosophy which is: if you lose your balance you smile and if you fall you laugh…Men tend to be pretty self-critical and pretty competitive in a room…that lowers the stakes. So we’re not berating ourselves if we’re not doing well….instead trying to relax into the opportunity. I continue to enjoy Core Yoga and the group. I continue to be challenged. I keep coming back…I Have abs! And I haven’t had abs since junior high school…I feel good. I feel quite good.”
—Paul Fukui, who is a painter and the Q Center’s Program Director

“I joined core yoga because I just wanted to stretch, increase my range of motion…to lose weight. I’ve enjoyed learning new exercises…being with the fellowship of men. The class has exceeded my expectations. It was much better than I thought. I’ve been involved in it a lot longer than I thought I would be. I just really enjoyed it. The people and the teacher have made it so enjoyable…Surprising benefits have been that I’ve been getting involved in other Manifest events.”
—Bill Chin, is a father of two beautiful daughters, an avid snowboarder, and an IT manager
