ECO-HIKE: Salmon Butte (Cancelled)
Moderate hike to spectacular views of Mt. Hood & 4 other major peaks SALMON BUTTE – THIS HIKE IS CANCELLED due to injury of the trip facilitator. We hope to schedule another Eco-Hike soon! This is one of my favorite hikes in the Mt. Hood area! The hike travels through beautiful woods, with a number of switchbacks, to an abandoned fire tower summit with unbelievable views of the Cascades. On a clear day, the peaks of five mountains can be seen. Bring your binoculars! Party limit of ten. Distance: 9 miles roundtrip. Elevation Gain: moderate 2800 feet TRIP LEADER: Tom Stanwood, who has been hiking & leading hikes for more than 30 years and been an active member of the famed Mazamas hiking/climbing club for 25 years.
