ECO-HIKE (Manifest NE Studio) 1st SundayECO-HIKE: connecting with life through nature
1st Sunday & 3rd Saturday (June-October), 9:30 am- late afternoon, meet at Manifest NE Studio Twice a month one of our naturalists leads a walk or hike in a powerful place, a place so beautiful and alive that we are tricked into the present moment and our deep connection to native plants, water, earth, one another, and our selves. Our Eco-Hikes are not about hiking “to” an objective or even learning about the names & uses of native plants. They are about being so fully in a place that you become part of its aliveness, part of its enormous beauty and living stillness. Within Portland and nearby are so many extraordinary places calling to us to rejoin the sacred flow of life. Our hikes are usually easy, our pace is generally slow, and we focus on connecting with ourselves, one another, and the eco-system we’re exploring. Check back here or call us to learn the specific locations we’ll be exploring each month; our locations are subject to change based on weather. The July 1st Sunday Eco-Hike will be:
Men’s Eco-Hike: Eagle Creek & PunchBowl Falls
Eagle Creek is one of the most beautiful stream valleys in the Columbia Gorge. We’ll be taking a fairly easy hike to a beautiful set of waterfalls that terminate in Punchbowl Falls, a favorite place for diving and swimming on a hot day. We’ll carpool to save on gas and return when we’re ready in the late afternoon. DIVERSITY: This event is for adult men of all ages, sizes, shapes, orientations, colors, experience levels, and backgrounds (including trans guys). WHAT TO BRING: comfortable shoes, sack lunch, plenty of water, sunscreen, and swimsuit & sandals or watershoes if you want to swim or wade. DONATION: $5-$15 donation benefits Manifest, a non-profit men’s wellness community empowering men to manifest wellness & love through community. If you’re not a carpool driver, you’ll also be asked to donate to your carpool driver for gas. No one turned away for lack of funds, and work-study available (if you call before the event to schedule your volunteer time). INFO: David at 503*223*8822 x1 RSVP: Register Online
FACILITATOR: David Barts, our barefoot naturalist, is nicknamed Pulakli, which is a native tribal word that means “dark.” He is assisted by Bart Church who has been leading mindfulness trips into nature for 20 years.
