MANIFEST PROGRAMS: Spring 2011
Manifest, a non-profit men’s wellness community, empowers men to
achieve their wellness visions together in more than 18 programs
weekly, including . . .
MONDAYS
MORNING YOGA & MEDITATION: Learn to establish a daily practice to
increase energy & focus, decrease depression & pain, & feel better;
Monday-Friday, 6:30-7:30 am Breath Practices & Meditation; 7:30-8:30
am Yoga. Instructor Bart Church, has studied yoga for more than 25
years & been a Raja & Iyengar-trained Yoga teacher for more than 16
years. Manifest NE Studio.
QI GONG: Gentle movement & shaking, breathwork, visualization &
meditation to balance & increase your energy, heal your body, improve
mood, & restore playful fun in your life. Mondays weekly,
6:15-7:30pm. Taught by Ryan Powell, who has practiced QiGong for 13
years & taught for 5 years. Manifest NE Studio.
MEN’S MASSAGE EXCHANGE: Learn simple techniques from licensed massage
therapists, and then practice giving & receiving relaxing, healing
massage with several men on professional tables in a warm, safe,
comfortable atmosphere. Mondays weekly (starts 3/21), 7:45-9:45 pm.
Facilitators: Licensed Massage Therapists Hayden Buell (OR LMT

TUESDAYS
ASK THE DOCTOR: FUNDAMENTALS OF MEN’S WELLNESS: Dr. Eric Blake, a
Naturopathic Physician, Acupuncturist, & nationally-known naturopathic
instructor & author presents the fundamental natural strategies to
help men powerfully improve: 1) digestion, 2) sexuality/ vitality, 3)
mood/depression/anxiety, 4) chronic pain, 5) heart health, & 6)
immunity. Tuesdays weekly, 6:30-7:30 pm. Portland Holistic Health

NAKED YOGA: Learn simple yoga stretches to honor & strengthen your
body as a vessel of sacred energy. Explore creating comfort within
yourself & others to feel that energy. Tuesdays weekly, 6:15-7:30 pm.
Class is for men of all skill levels, orientations, & body types, and
will be a safe, fun space for affirming our bodies as beautiful.
Taught by Lance DeMuth, a certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor. Manifest

SHAMANIC & ENERGY HEALING CLASS: Learn & practice simple techniques
to heal yourself, others, & your community by allowing the flow of
fundamental life force. Tuesdays weekly, 7:45-9:30 pm. Facilitator:
Lance DeMuth, a Reiki Master & certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor who
has studied shamanic practices in South America & the U.S. Manifest NE
Studio.
WEDNESDAYS
GENTLE YOGA CLASS: Improve strength, flexibility, energy, mood, &
immunity with gentle stretches tailored to your goals & abilities.
Wednesdays weekly, 12-1pm. Instructor: Bryan Rollins is a certified
Hatha Yoga who loves creating an environment that helps men practice
yoga while feeling at-ease. Friendly House (NW 26th @ Thurman).
SPRING DETOX & WEIGHT MANAGEMENT CLASS: Dr. Timothy Messinger, a
Naturopathic Physician will guide you through 21 days of a vitamin &
mineral rich detox diet augmented with supplements & herbs to cleanse
the blood, the bowel, & support the liver. Then you’ll learn how to
re-introduce healthy foods you’ll enjoy, eliminate food allergies, &
manage your weight with new habits & on-going group support.

THURSDAYS
GENTLE YOGA CLASS: Improve strength, flexibility, energy, mood, &
immunity with gentle stretches tailored to your goals & abilities.
Thursdays weekly, 7:00-8:15 pm. Instructor: Shane Wolfe has been
teaching Sivananda style yoga since receiving his Yoga teaching
certification in 2007. Shane is also a licensed meditation
facilitator. MCC Portland -lower level (NE Broadway @ 24th).
BEGINNERS CORE YOGA: In this all-levels class learn to strengthen
your core abdominal & spinal muscles & reconnect your movement with
the earth. Thursdays weekly, 6:15-7:30 pm. Instructor Bryan Rollins
has been teaching adults & children yoga fundamentals for two years &
seeks to create an intergenerational class. Manifest NE Studio.
WORK & ABUNDANCE PEER SUPPORT GROUP: Get powerful, practical support
each week to clarify & move toward your vision of fulfilling work that
brings you abundance. Thursdays weekly, 7:45-9:15 pm. Create a
concrete action plan & team; use networking to expand your available
resources. Facilitated by Michael St. John, who has facilitated
communication & personal development strategies for 15 years. Manifest
NE Studio.
FRIDAYS
COMMUNITY DINNER & HEART CIRCLE: Men & their allies are invited to
enjoy a potluck dinner, sharing on a different topic or question. 2nd
Fridays, 6:00-8:30 pmish. Manifest NE Studio.
SATURDAYS
HERBALISM & NUTRITION CLASS: Learn principles & practical
information to rebuild and maintain deep immunity and vitality using
Western & Eastern herbs and nutrition. 8 Saturdays weekly, 10:00 am-12
noon. Taught by Max Floyd, an herbalism & permaculture instructor.

COOKING WELL CLASS: Learn to cook food that is fast, delicious, easy
& healthy, in this hands-on, practical course. 8 Saturdays weekly, 12
noon-2 pm. Taught by Max Floyd, herbalist. Manifest NE Studio.
GARDENING & FOOD SUSTAINABILITY TEAM: Learn practical skills & tips
from some of the best master gardeners in the Portland area; share
information with a diverse group of new & experienced gardeners, and
reinforce what you’ve learned by practicing in one another’s gardens.
1st & 3rd Saturdays, 1:00 pm-3:30 pm. Facilitators Aaron Andrade &
Johnny Burger have been gardening in Portland for many years, studying
permaculture and organic gardening with many of Portland’s most
respected gardeners & urban farmers.
GAMES FOR GUYS: Manifest Newcomers & Members get to know one another
playing various board & interactive games. 4th Saturdays monthly,
3:00-5:00 pm. Hosted by Opal Jones & Bear Kenyon. Bring snacks &
non-alcoholic beverages to share. Manifest NE Studio.
MEN’S SEXUAL HEALING FORUM: Share from your heart what you really
want for sexual healing. We’ll talk about fantasies, frustrations,
fears, erotic adventures and relationships, what’s working, and how we
can playfully and practically help one another heal. Saturday, 4/2,
3-5 pm. Facilitator: Lance DeMuth, is a Reiki Master, Yoga Teacher, &
long-time sexual healing group facilitator. Manifest NE Studio.
SUNDAYS
WANDERLUST FITNESS CYCLING GROUP: Have fun exploring Portland by bike
in this fitness ride that usually ends with (optional) group dinner;
Sundays weekly, 4:30-6:00 pm-ish. Facilitator: Benjamin Gerritz, a
native Portlander & long-time urban cyclist. Meet at Whole Foods (NE
15th & Fremont).
RELATIONSHIP & COMMUNICATION GROUP: Learn practical techniques for
communicating your feelings, needs, & specific requests, and for
effectively responding to others’ feelings & needs in ways that assure
everyone’s needs get met & avoid pointless conflict & confusion.
Sundays weekly, 5:00-6:30 pm. Facilitated by Matt Johnston, MA, CADC
