ECO-HIKE CAPE LOOKOUT
Easy hike under trees to spectacular views of Oregon coast & ocean

AUGUST ECO-HIKES

CAPE LOOKOUT –
Sat, 8/8, 8:30 am -  5:00 pm

Hike along a wooded forest trail with several views of the ocean to the tip of Cape Lookout. This is reputed to be one of the best views on the Coast, so be sure to bring your binoculars! Oregon’s coast is gorgeous & this is one of the best ways to see it.  When it’s hot in Portland it’s usually cool on the coast.  Distance: 9.4 miles roundtrip.  Elevation Gain:  gradual 1200 feet.

TRIP LEADER:  Tom Stanwood, who has been hiking & leading hikes for more than 30 years, and been an active member of the famed Mazamas hiking/climbing club for 25 years.

MEET TO CARPOOL at 8:30 am:  Staff Parking Lot of Trinity Cathedral; drive West on Burnside, pass NW 19th, at next street, turn right on Trinity Place, drive to the lot which will be across the street from the Cathedral.  Trip leader will have a sign to put in your car window.

This is one of my favorite hikes in the Mt. Hood area!  The hike travels through beautiful woods, with a number of switchbacks, to an abandoned fire tower summit with unbelievable views of the Cascades. On a clear day, the peaks of five mountains can be seen. Bring your binoculars! Party limit of ten. Distance: 9 miles roundtrip.  Elevation Gain:  moderate 2800 feet
